TQH INSTRUCTOR RETREAT

It has been a great pleasure to welcome you all in Bretagne, France every year and share this cozy transformation together. I feel grateful every time to have each of you with your gentle, wise and profound presence with both your strengths and weaknesses. 

All is there to share in the group with courage and compassion. All is there to co-exist and grow our wisdom as a group. 

So, I create TQH instructor retreats here to offer my services

TO CREATE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO SHARE DEEPLY

 

Acceptance and acknowledgement is the ground for transformation. In the morning, we share all type of changes, insights, doubts and unclarity. The group is kept small and cozy in order to create this open space to allow it out.  As we listen as a group, we practice on cultivating understanding, compassion, non-judgement, and universal equanimity “metta” “karuna” “mudita” “upekkha”.

 

TO CULTIVATE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND FRIENDSHIP TO SUPPORT AMONG EUROPEAN AND JAPANESE INSTRUCTORS

 

When we go back home into the old surrounding of family and social relationships, we can face difficulties in this social realm and easily feel alone or discouraged to pursue the practices, or even to start sharing with others. Doubt and confusion can often arise during this period. Having the community near you in Europe will back-up our faith and support towards the state of confidence in our beings and the teaching scene. 

TO PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS WITH DETAIL AND CLARITY

 

I will explain the logic behind- “why,” with tangible and accessible instruction that we can apply instantly-“what and how,” and give you both short and long-run directions-“for what.” As an instructor, it is essential to have strong background in knowledge and as much experiences of guiding different students. Having clear instructions given will help you to understand the logic of the TQH system step by step both in mind and body, so when it comes to your turn to teach, you will be able to structuralise the priorities of instruction clearly for each student. 

 

Here are the other two. “Who?” …YOU, only you can do the work for yourself. “When?” …NOW the present moment and LATER in projection and anticipation. We will work on cultivating the skill to know the clear difference in TIMING. 

TO CULTIVATE INNER STRENGTH AND WATER MIND IN A PROTECTED ENVIRONMENT

The sessions are conducted in a relaxed, at-home atmosphere with no strong pressure and expectation, but with clear direction. We are easily fired up with our expectation and this can create tension in how we relate to our own practices and even to other colleagues. I create this protected environment, so that each of us can remove the outer tension and protection. This can as a result accelerate the process of cultivating inner strength by nature. 

 

The transition from yang protection to inner yin strength can be tricky and shaky, but I will guide you through using the understanding of Dhamma and nature of Yin Yang theory, with the support of the group. We will also go through in-depth practice of meditation to study the science of mind in relation to physical body. Discussion time in this topic will be set for you to verbalise, structuralise and integrate this nature. 

TO ENCOURAGE OPPORTUNITIES TO APPLY THE TEACHING IN OUR DAILY LIFE AND SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS

 

Receiving the teaching is one thing. Applying the teaching is something else and it is not always automatic. As an instructor, one of the significant aspects of development is integration and application. When we go back to our home country is the GREATEST OPPORTUNITY to do this practice. This experience will allow deeper understanding of the method to spring out as embodied experiences and it will support and boost up your further studies.

 

Through in-depth sharing sessions we have everyday, we will explore the opportunities to work on potential application “in which area of myself I can apply the teaching right now and what are my blind spots?” When the conditions are ready, results come. When the applications are made in the right place in the right timing, the results will always arrive. 

TO CULTIVATE THE QUALITY OF HUMBLE CONFIDENCE

Understanding the actual meaning of this term is essential as a spiritual practitioner. Through my experiences, practices, and observations, I have categorised into three type of confidence. 1 “Arrogant confidence” insecurity expressed as yang form, 2 “insecure confidence.” -arrogance expressed as yin form, 3 “humble confidence” -inner strength expressed as deep stability,  This is generally not an easy concept to face or accept, but as I often see the necessities and needs, I would pull out my courage and my upmost compassion to open this conversation to the group, but only in the right timing. 

 

TO OFFER A CLEAR MINDSET AS A TEACHER

 

I will also open up this dialog to explore both the bright side and challenging side as a teacher. First major topic here will be the Law of Dana -who, what, when, and why to give/share. The ripples and consequences in each choices we make NEVER ends. It is essential for instructors to absorb this concept well in order to create more profound consequences with efficient effort. The second dialog on the table is the understanding of our emotional sabotage. When we stand on the “stage,” we tend to put “the ideal mask of a teacher based on our perception.” How can we overcome this fearful stage? How can we let go of these ingrained perceptions? How can we stay authentic to be fully present in the teaching moment? Accompanying this path with a balanced, logical, and effective mindset towards optimal direction can minimise the burden, fear, pressure and overwhelms. I will facilitate this topic based on Dhamma as well as my own observed experiences.   

 

TO DEVELOP THE SKILL TO GIVE THE MINIMUM INSTRUCTION BY UNDERSTANDING PRIORITIES FOR YOUR STUDENTS

There, my question will be “What is the ONE suggestion we can give to this person RIGHT NOW?” This exercise allows us to see how minimum and simple the instruction can be and how powerful it will be. As we all have experienced in the past, sometimes one word can clear up 100 questions.

The invitation of upcoming retreats will be first sent to the regular trainees of the institute.
